Multinational Strategies in Emerging Economies
Abstract
The multinational manager faces an array of complex strategic issues. All multinational managers, in both large and small companies, must deal with the multinational of local responsiveness versus the global solution. After reading this research you should be able to appreciate the complexities of the global-local dilemma faced by the multinational company; to understand the content of the multinational strategies transnational, international, multi-domestic, and regional; to formulate a multinational strategy by applying the diagnostic questions that aid multinational companies in solving the global-local dilemma; to understand the content of the participation strategies: exporting, licensing, alliances/IJVs, and foreign direct investment; to formulate a participation strategy based on the strengths and weaknesses of each approach and the needs of the multinational company. This research paper describes an industry where almost any company can be a multinational strategist. Such companies can seek lower-cost expertise or source lower-cost or higher-quality raw material anywhere in the world to enhance their competitive positions.Published
